Add assets with Smart Entry

Use Smart Entry to add a fixed asset one question at a time. It works best when you have a small number of assets to enter manually, or when you want guidance instead of preparing a CSV first.
Before you start, make sure your fixed asset register is set up and your depreciation rates and methods are configured.
Start Smart Entry
From the register toolbar, select Smart Entry. Simple Fixed Assets opens Question-Based Entry, which walks you through the fields needed for the Fixed Asset Register.
Choose the asset category carefully.
Enter the purchase date and cost.
Answer the remaining questions until the asset is complete.
Select Save Data.
The answers you provide are added directly to the register. If a field is left blank, the entry can stay incomplete.
What to have ready
- Asset description
- Category
- Purchase date
- Purchase cost
- Any depreciation details you already know
Common issues
Incomplete answers: Smart Entry can only save what you have filled in.
Wrong category: the asset can end up using the wrong depreciation setup.
Missing purchase date or cost: depreciation and reporting values can be wrong.
Wrong depreciation values: update configuration first, then add the asset.
If you need to enter many rows at once, use CSV import instead. After you add the asset, you can review it in the register, use filters to find it, or group assets for reporting. If you are closing the year, continue with Rollover to New Year.
