Use filters and groups in your register

Use Filters and Group by Category to narrow the Fixed Asset Register for review, audits, and cleanup without changing the underlying data.
Before you start, make sure your Fixed Asset Register already contains assets. If you need to build it first, see Create a fixed asset register.
Filter data
Select Filters to open Filter Data. Use filters when you want to find a subset of assets, such as one category, one purchase date range, or a value range for audit checks.
Click Filters in the toolbar.
Set the fields you want to narrow, then review the register results.
Clear filters when you want the full list again.
Filters are temporary. They do not edit asset values or remove records. If the list looks too small, check whether a filter is still active.
Group by category
Select Group by Category when you want to organize rows by asset category for a quicker review. Use Ungroup to return to the flat register.
Grouping helps when you are checking totals, comparing categories, or preparing for an audit. It changes how the register is displayed, not the underlying records.
Common issues
Assuming filters change the data instead of the view.
Forgetting that a filter is still active and missing assets.
Confusing grouping with sorting. Grouping clusters rows by category; it does not reorder by a field value.
Using a narrowed view during cleanup and overlooking records outside the filter.
After review, return to the full register, then use Export for a CSV copy or your audit workflow as needed.
