Import assets from CSV

Use CSV import when you need to load a batch of assets into your Fixed Asset Register faster than entering them one by one. It works best when your spreadsheet already has clean column names, consistent dates, and matching depreciation assumptions.
If you are starting from scratch, create your register first. If your depreciation rates need adjusting before you import, review depreciation settings for the settings area used to update configuration.
Import your CSV
Open the register and select Import CSV from the toolbar.
Choose your CSV file.
Map each column to the matching register field.
Review the preview and validation results.
Import the rows that pass validation.
Prepare the file
Keep one asset per row. Use clear headers for fields such as asset name, category, purchase date, cost, and any depreciation values your setup requires. Make sure dates use one format throughout the file. Remove blank rows and check for duplicate asset names before you upload.
Check these fields first
Cost values are present for every asset.
Purchase dates are valid and consistent.
Categories match the depreciation setup in the register.
Depreciation assumptions match your current configuration.
Review the result
After import, scan the register for missing values, duplicate assets, and any rows that landed in the wrong category. If the imported depreciation does not match expectations, update your depreciation settings and recheck the affected assets.
Common issues
Columns do not line up with the expected fields.
A date cannot be read.
An asset appears twice in the register.
Cost values are missing or blank.
Depreciation rates or methods do not match the current setup.
For small updates, Smart Entry can be faster than importing a file. Use filters and groups after import to check the register by category or value, then roll the register forward when you close the year.
